Bergamo, 10 June 2008 Italcementi and HeidelbergCement signed a licensing agreement for joint use of a series of cement and photocatalytic binders developed by Italcementi Group and the TX Active® photoactive cement brand.

The sod turning ceremony for the new Devnya cement plant took place on June 28, 2008 in the presence of Italcementi Group’s Chief Executive Officer Carlo Pesenti, Chief Operating Officer Giovanni Ferrario, and Devnya Cement’s General Manager Alex Car, along with Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev and Italian Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Stefano Benazzo.

Italcementi Group was one of the main sponsors of the 23rd World Congress of Architecture which taked place for the first time in Italy, in Turin, on 29 June – 03 July 2008. This prestigious event, held every three years, hosts thousands of professionals and specialists in the building sector coming from all over the world. 
Bergamo, 09 June 2008 Ciments Français (Italcementi Group) will participate in the project for a new cement plant in Syria. The plant, with an annual capacity of 3.2 million tons, will be managed by Al Badia Cement JSC, a new Syrian company majority-owned by Muhaidib Group of Saudi Arabia. Ciments Français will hold a 12.5% stake in Al Badia Cement. The new plant will be operating by 2010.
