Italgen was established in 2001 by Italcementi with the aim of exploiting the production and distribution of electricity for the Group in Italy and abroad, doing business in ways that respect the environment and the territory, privileging sustainable energy production, raising supply from renewables, and adopting the Best Available Technologies in line with the sustainable development policy of Italcementi Group.

Italgen main objectives are focused on:

• diversifying the sources of supply and opting, as a priority, for renewable energy sources
• reducing CO2 emissions from its operations
• adopting rigorous Environmental Impact Assessment studies for each new project
• enhancing and developing the economies of the countries where Italgen operates
• promoting a more responsible and mindful use of energy resources
• applying safety standards, spreading a culture of risk prevention and making all employees aware of their responsibilities
