Italcementi and Architecture
Italcementi footprint for Architecture
Italcementi has always devoted great attention to Architecture, understanding it as a tool for the sustainable transformation of landscapes, and to Innovation as a means for dialogue amongst all the players of the building community. Nowadays, research and technology enable cement to offer levels of performance that were unthinkable just a few years ago. This makes Italcementi’s relationship with architects, designers and clients increasingly vital and profound. Italcementi has been collaborating extensively with architects for a long time in many ways: innovation through direct involvement in large scale projects that express new innovative and sustainable building technologies; providing services through technical support at building sites and through research; cultural innovation through participation in analysis and discussion of the most important topics in Contemporary Architecture; and education through the support of Universities and Institutions devoted to the teaching of new generations of architects and engineers.

Great architects for significant innovative buildings

Over decades, Italcementi has consolidated its relationship with the great names in international architecture. It has constructed buildings that are now part and parcel of modern and contemporary architecture with Pierluigi Nervi, Giò Ponti, Richard Meier, Mario Botta and Dominique Perrault. These buildings include the Nervi Room in the Vatican, the Pirelli skyscraper in Milan, the Dives in Misericordia Church in Rome, the ITCLab in Bergamo and Bibliothéque de France in Paris.

Continuous training at university

The studies on reinforced concrete carried out at the "Scuola di Specializzazione F.lli Pesenti" at the Politecnico di Milano are considered to be significant at European level. Similar projects have been started with Malaga University in Spain for studies in the field of innovative materials, and with El Minya University in Egypt.
