Sri Lanka: Italcementi celebrates 10 years
October 2008

Italcementi Group completed 10 years of operations in Sri Lanka, having sold over two million tons of cement during this last period of time.

The Italian Group started its operations in Sri Lanka in 1998 as a BOI (Thailand Board of Investment) company and aimed at introducing advanced concepts for cement imports via a Floating Cement Silo Vessel (FCSV) for the handling, storage, packing and distribution of its cement. The Company, known locally as International Cement Traders Ltd. (ICTL), markets its own brands of cement, namely Singha and Italcementi both of which have fast gained popularity among local consumers.

Colin Nelson, Managing Director of ICTL, expressed his satisfaction for the achievements and looked forward to selling the next million tons in record time. Moreover, “Singha cement has been awarded the ISO 9000 certification as well" added mr. Nelson.
