A successful first year for White Shark
October 2006

As part of Italcementi Group’s Medcem fleet, the White Shark motor vessel has completed its first year of operation under the “Spiral” flag.

White Shark is a 29,000 ton bulk carrier operating mainly on the Atlantic route. Over the past twelve months, it has completed 11 trips, of which 6 transporting cement, 1 coal, 4 petcoke and 1 grain. Total cargo tonnage reached 280,000 tons with freight revenues amounting to approximately 7.8 million dollars as a result of 9 Group and 2 extra-Group shipments.

From an economic point of view, the Group’s move to manage some of its sea transport activities directly has proved successful: freight costs have turned out to be lower than the market level with clear benefits for trading activities.
