Egypt: Suez Lime invests in new technologies for the establishment of a new plant

Suez Lime, a joint venture between Suez Cement - Italcementi Group Egyptian subsidiary - and Unicalce, announced the establishment of a new plant for the production of lime in Suez Governorate.

The new plant will use the best available technologies for manufacturing lime, a product with numerous and growing applications both in the building materials sector and also in the steel, chemical, environmental, agri-food and paper ones.
The first kiln of the new Suez Lime plant will have a production capacity of 300 tons per day and it will be ready by 2011, followed very shortly by the installation of a second kiln in order to reach a total yearly production capacity of 200,000 tons.

Suez Lime was established in October 2007 and has already a plant operating in Cairo that produces hydrated lime principally used for water treatment. The Company is currently capturing almost 50% of the local competitive market.
