On 26th April the Pukrang Plant in Thailand, owned by Asia Cement, celebrated its fifth year running without a lost time injury. Pukrang is now the 3rd Italcementi Group cement plant that achieved the 5 years goal after Cha-Am Plant owned by Jalaprathan Cement (Thailand) and Logansport (Essroc network in U.S.A.) respectively.Mr. Pichit Wiriyachaiyo, Chief of Industrial Office and Mr. Itthipon Panngern, Labour Protection and Welfare Office participated in the celebration together with the executive of Asia Cement and part of the management of Italcementi Group. In the occasion they offered a commemoration plaque to reward the cement plant for its commitment to the “Zero Accidents” project and its effort to achieve this important target.
The vision embedded in the ”Zero Accidents” approach implies the identification of safety as a corporate value and a core business strategy for the Italcementi Group, as safety has always been an issue of utmost importance within the Group.The “Zero Accidents” approach brings together all the necessary programmes required to establish a consistent Safety management system at all Group plants, hinging on a substantive corporate safety philosophy and requiring a continuous increase in people’s awareness and concern regarding safety.Since the launch of the “Zero Accidents” project, there has been a significant improvement in the Group’s performance. From 2000 to 2006, the accident frequency rate registered a 68.5% decrease, while the severity rate was reduced by almost 78%.
