The proposed project would have a strong developmental impact in the target countries as the sub-projects will result in job creation, local manpower development, increased fiscal revenue and enhanced local economic development, more generally. While the impact will vary from country to country, IFC views Italcementi as a good partner to champion its sustainability strategy. Italcementi has high operating standards and is a competitive producer of quality cement. Having espoused the philosophy of sustainable development, Italcementi’s sub-projects are expected to be implemented in accordance with sound environmental, social, health and safety practices. IFC’s investment at the sub-project level will bring comfort to Italcementi, especially in countries where it has not yet established a significant presence. In particular, IFC will share its emerging market experience and understanding of local companies and conditions in the targeted countries.
