Sustainable Development of an industrial company goes through an integrated management and a limited environmental impact of the receipt and shipment of goods. Along this way has moved GSM, the French Italcementi Group subsidiary that works in aggregate’s sector. Gsm carried a multi modal platform for the handling of entry and exit goods. This infrastructure rose in Gennevilliers, in the industrial area near the Port Autonome of Paris. It develops a system for handling of goods exploiting different communication networks as ship canals, railways and road haulage. A special integration model has been implemented among several means of transport to avoid waste of energy to take steps against greenhouse effect, to overwork available resources, contributing to reduce social costs in pollution and safety terms. The plant, cost about 2 million euro, is featured by a clean technology. It is in line with an integrated approach respectful of territory and surrounding landscape. During the second edition of Sustainable Development Awards by UNPG (National Aggregate Producers’ Association) the platform was awarded a significant recognition for this characteristics as other projects reflecting better development policies according with environmental expectations.
