On the 5th May, Suez Cement, Egypt’s first cement company owned by Italcementi Group, celebrated the first Open Door event of the Tourah cement plant to promote among its stakeholders a better understanding of its business as well as its environmental and social initiatives. More than 2,000 residents - together with local authorities, customers and representatives of media and of Non-Governmental Organisations - had the opportunity to visit the plant, the biggest of the five cement plants belonging to Suez Cement, and to participate in the activities organised to sensitise the visitors on the on-going environmental projects.
“Suez Cement, which is strongly committed in the realisation of projects in favour of the communities, has clearly identified the protection of children’s rights, especially the right to have access to health care and education, as a special issue of its social responsibility strategy. Today, we are very glad to support the Friends of Children with Cancer Association and we strongly believe that the Health and Hope Oasis will contribute in enhancing the quality of life of the Egyptian children with cancer” stated Roberto Callieri, Managing Director of Suez Cement.
Suez Cement, together with its affiliated companies, Helwan Cement Company and Tourah Portland Cement Company, already proved its strong dedication towards children’s right with the agreement for the donation of all the cement needed to build the Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357, one of the biggest hospitals in the world specialised in this field and considered as a beam of hope for children of Egypt and the whole Arab world.
