Essroc Ready Mix has recently received the Green Star Certification from the National Ready Mix Concrete Association (NRMCA).
Green Star is a program promoted by NRMCA in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Highway’s Partnership.

The program recognizes companies and facilities, located throughout the state of Virginia, that demonstrate excellence through compliance with rigid standards for the reduction of environmental impact and ongoing principles of sustainability.
The NRMCA bases this certification on the Ten Guiding Principles: top management commitment, compliance assurance, enabling systems, measurement and continual improvement, public communications, industry leadership, awareness and outreach, training and development, and research and demonstration. The certification includes a rigorous, structured certification process capable of withstanding third-party oversight.

To celebrate the achievement, from April, 5 through April, 21 2011 open houses and cookouts were held at all six facilities for customers and employees. The celebrations held at the six ready mix plants were well attended, with customers stating their appreciation to the Company for this effort that will assist them in their ability to present green solutions to their customers.
